From Artists to Bikers

Happy Monday, humans.
Mildly eventful weekend. Friday night I grabbed Sky and we went down to see an art show where some of my friend S’s paintings were going to be shown. That was an interesting event.
I was kicking myself for forgetting my camera, because frankly the human beings wandering around were infinitely more interesting than the over priced stuff hanging on the walls. Some of the paintings and artwork were nice, but not $1000 nice. I thought S’s paintings were better than a number ones on the walls. There were also some live performances, of which only a few I caught. There was ‘angry poet man’ flinging his poetry to the ground after he read each one, and that was followed by a guy on a fiddle who was absolutely excellent.
The place filled up pretty quick, but I was a little too sober to fully enjoy it. The beer they were selling for 3 bucks a cup was horrid. But I knew with that many artsy chicks around I would soon see some boobs, and sure enough one girl stripped down to the waist, applied a couple of pasties and soon had another girl smearing paint on her.

There was also some cartoonishly voluptuous girl there who was wearing some sort of semi-see-though white lingerie with a head of spiky hair. I am not sure what she was doing, other than getting a lot of photographs taken of her. After a while I got antsy (there was no place to sit and I did not feeling like mingling) and Sky and I took off, but it was a neat event and I’ll go to another one in a heartbeat.
Saturday was the big bike fest in Sanford. Sky and I went down a little too early on Saturday because we had gotten the munchies and I was in a gyro mood, so we walked down to the event. I say a little too early, because it was hot and humid out. There was a ton of bikes down there Saturday, a lot of them really unique. There was a few things I had never seen before, like the triangle-shaped trike that had a normal car seat and steering wheel in it.
We wolfed down our gyros and checked out the stunt show. This was a number of dudes basically doing everything on a motorcycle that my safety instructor warned us not to do. What impressed me was the high-jumpers. They had a large rather rickety ramp set up, and a guy on a dirt bike would shoot up alarmingly high into the air and then come back down on another ramp. I have never seen such a stunt in real life before, and I was rather impressed at how high up they were going. I ooh and aaahed with the rest of the crowd. But at this point the heat was getting to me, so we walked back home.
Sunday I took my scooter down for a few pics, but it was not as crowded as it was on Saturday.
Saturday this was packed with bikers, but not as many on sunday. Can you spot my scooter?

Lots and lots of booths selling stuff was set up, most of it biker oriented. I counted no less than 3 tattoo parlors, but I could not convince Sky to get a big tattoo of my name across her chest. There was fun shops such as KNIVES AND STUN GUNS:

Biker chick lingerine. You can see a patron out front thinking of going in.

Yes, I would like the fish with extra salmonella, please.

Booze girls ready to serve you.

The big steel ball of death. With mother and son enjoying their outing.

Huge flag they had set up that you drive your bike under to get to the bikes-only area.

Seet paint job. I like the helmet.

Can you spot my scooter?

One sign I wished I had gotten a pic was was one vendor selling motorcycle lifts. The sign said 'OUR LIFTS ARE MADE IN THE USA, NOT COMMUNIST CHINA' and the 'communist china' part was littered with bullet holes. heh.
Sunday I worked more on the vardo until I ran out of screws. I hope to get it finished by this weekend so that I can start painting it and it will be ready for magfest next weekend. Getting a little pressed for time. |

I don't know Sky, is her chest big enough for your last name? I mean anyone can fit "Ed" but there's so many Ed's and Edwards you'd really have to have your full name and that seems like a lot of space required if you want it legible..

eew, the flu. I forgot to get my free albertsons shot.
I wasn't able to spot your scooter. I looked in the water and in the trees too. It was like one of the really frustrating "where's waldo?" books...
